Ferrari 275 GTB Trellis
On January 26th I once again was honored to be a featured artist at the 28th annual Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach, FL. Held at the opulent Breakers Hotel, the Cavallino Classic is the premiere Ferrari concours. Each year the amount and caliber of historic Ferraris on hand is staggering.
For this year’s event I unveiled a series of smaller sculptures perfect for those with limited space or to be given as gifts for the car enthusiast who has everything.
The first in a new series of trellis sculptures, the Ferrari 275 GTB trellis is now available in 1/8″ scale. Measuring 22″ long and 6″ wide, this new sculpture comes in a variety of finishes including red powdercoat and brushed steel. Custom finishes may also be completed upon request.
Made entirely of 11 gauge steel, the Ferrari 275 GTB trellis is assembled by hand and meticulously tig welded at each juncture before metal finishing. It also includes four integrated brushed stainless steel mounts that allow for a desktop display or vertical wall mount.
My concept for the Ferrari 275 GTB trellis is inspired by the wire or wood “bucks” that were commonly used by metalcrafters. These forms were used as a visual guide for shaping the car’s body. Part of my current process of hand forming my larger sculptures also involves the creation of these shapes. I am often asked if I would consider selling just these simple yet visually intriguing forms. This sculpture is my response to that request.
I will be creating these on a made to order basis. They will be limited to only 49 examples total. Please contact me with any additional questions or custom requests.
