Ferrari Museum Virtual Tour

Museo Ferrari Maranello

“Live the dream” is the claim that welcomes visitors. The Museo Ferrari in Maranello focuses on Ferrari’s present and future, whilst remaining deeply rooted in the Prancing Horse’s extraordinary history.

In September of 2015 I fulfilled my life long dream of going to Italy. My wife and I spent nearly two weeks enjoying Italy’s finest cities from Rome to Venice. Of course, as a die-hard tifoso I made sure to include a pilgrimage to the holy land of Maranello to tour the Ferrari factory and to visit the Ferrari Museum.

Two of the unexpected highlights of my time visiting Ferrari were the official Museo Ferrari in Maranello and the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena. Don’t get me wrong. The Ferrari factory tour was the Holy Grail but the Museo Ferrari located near the factory and the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena were incredible in their own right.

To the delight of tifosi worldwide, Google recently shared these shrines of Ferrari’s past and future glory through their virtual tour wizardry. Now you can forego the cost of traveling to Italy to enjoy these memorable museums and visit them everyday. You can casually take a look around while killing time at work or just sitting at home on the couch. Speaking as someone who has seen both places first hand I am amazed at how well an online virtual tour can capture the experience. Nothing can be the same as being there in the flesh but these virtual tours are the next best thing, minus the espresso.

Step inside the Museo Ferrari Maranello virtual tour above. Take your time and look around. My favorite part is the “Hall of Champions” where the F1 Championship cars are on display.

You can also virtually tour the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena. I really enjoyed all the engines they had on display and especially enjoyed the video display wall. I should warn you that these tours might get your blood boiling and lead to an irrational round trip airfare purchase with Alitalia. If these two museums don’t stir your soul you might want to reevaluate your priorities and turn in your “car guy” credential.
As you can already tell from my artwork I am unabashedly biased when it comes to all things Rosso Corsa. Despite my leanings towards Scuderia Ferrari even the uninitiated should find these tours fascinating. As you can imagine I spent the entire time in Maranello and Modena grinning from ear to ear like a little girl at Disney World. I have the pictures to prove it. Even my wife Paula, who is far from being a car fanatic, found the entire experience mesmerizing. We both were very moved by the Pavarotti tribute that was featured during our visit. Who could not be?

If Italy is, as many proclaim, the most passionate place on Earth. Ferrari is the heartbeat. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t close my eyes and try to wish myself back. I repeatedly remind my wife Paula that I will happily pack up my life and move there just to sweep the floors all day. Maybe after the kids leave for college?

So if there are any frustrated dreamers out there like me, consider these virtual tours a temporary substitute until the day you take that flight yourself.

Forza!
